Who is Jason Calacanis?

Jason Calacanis is the CEO of Weblogs Inc, and you can visit his blog here: http://www.calacanis.com/. Jason Ca;acanis is a very interesting person. Not only is he a fifth degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, he has also ran in 11 consecutive NYC marathons. In 2003 Jason Calacanis started the concept of the Weblogs Inc. with his longtime friend Brian Alvey, who is the current presidnet of Weblogs. He aslo has his own blog which can be found here: http://alvey.weblogsinc.com/.

What is interesting is that searching their posts, I couldnt find any information of the sale of Weblogs Inc to AOL. Maybe it was just my ineptitude, but I really could not find any posts discussing AOL, or the sale. But dont take my word for it, you be the judge.

Skpye Love It and Hate It

The title of this post might at first seem a bit weird, but it is something I wanted to share. My parents are both part of the Baby Boomers after WW II. My father is totally old school when it comes to technology, basically he doesn't need it. For years now, he has had his secreatary print out his emails every morning so he can read them. The only thing my father could do with a computer was move the mouse. This all changed the day he discovered Skype.
As we all know my fellow bloggers, Skype is that wonderful program that allows to communicate with our friends and family using VOIP. While on a business trip, he noticed a few of his colleagues talking to their computers. He had no idea what they were doing, and at first he thought they were crazy. After asking a few questions, adn trying it out for himself, he was hooked. For the next month my father harassed me to open an account for him. Of course, I also had to download the software, and install it on his computer. During my Christmas vacation, my father asked me to go to his office and do it, which of course I never did. This is a mistake I regret now, for my father insisted on setting up Skype, and his many, many, (and I mean a lot) phone calls almost had me on the brink of insanity. After a painful step by step on how to find and download software, my father was fianlly able to set up his account.
Well three weeks later, and with his Skype installed, my father is now the new techo guru in the house. Something strange has happened to him, that I can't explain. Now he surfs the internet reguarly, he created his own Yahoo Page, its really a miracle. I have been trying years to get him to use a comptuer, and now that he has Skype, he wants to learn more, and download more things from the internet. So to the creators of Skpye I thank you, and I hate you. Now that my parents have learned to use a computer, (my mother also insisted on getting an account), I get more calls from them than ever before, and talking with Skype has made it easier for them to communicate with me. Now dont get me wrong, I love my parents, and I enjoy talking to them, but when I'm watching a movie, and my father calls asking me why he can't install google earth, well a man has to draw the line somewhere.
